Hungarian Grand Prix

Hungarian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton continued his long love affair with the Hungaroring by posting the fastest times in both Friday practice sessions in the buildup to the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton has become a master of the tight, twisty track, the slowest permanent facility on the Formula One calendar, claiming four poles and four victories in seven attempts. Another win on Sunday would make the 29-year-old the most successful driver at the circuit of all time. Quickest in the first session, when the medium-compound Pirelli tyre was used throughout, Hamilton posted a time of 1min 25.814sec, finishing 0.183sec clear of Rosberg. Come session two, when the drivers were allowed a run on the soft rubber, the quicker of the two choices this weekend, Hamilton improved to 1:24.482, with Rosberg down by 0.238.

Man United V Roma

Man United V Roma

AS Roma v Manchester United looks likely to provide a sterner test for Louis van Gaal's men than the comfortable 7-0 win over LA Galaxy. Van Gaal used David de Gea in goal in the first half and Anders Lindegaard in the second against LA. With Ben Amos and Sam Johnstone also in the touring party, it will be intriguing to see if either of them get a chance. Luke Shaw has been brought in a great expense to be United's next left-back, or indeed left wing-back. Given Reece James' second-half brace, however, Shaw may face competition for a place in the starting XI here.

Real Madrid v Inter

Real Madrid v Inter

This clash is the first of several matches in the International Champions Cup, which will see Madrid take on Roma and Manchester United while in America. With the players returning to pre-season training at different times, due to the disruption of a summer World Cup in Brazil, it is difficult to predict what sort of side Carlo Ancelotti will field. Madrid will be without several of their big stars, including Cristiano Ronaldo and new signings James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos. Devoid of their big stars, Gareth Bale can then take centre stage across the forward line. The Welshman may well be joined by Isco, who is also fresh from a summer off, while one of Raul de Tomas or Sobrino may be given a starting berth to in the No. 9. role.
