The 28-year-old Frenchman is three-times a quarterfinalist in Eastbourne, having reached the final eight in 2006, 2008 and 2010. World No. 442 Kyle Edmund won his opening-round match over French qualifier Kenny De Schepper in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. The British wildcard is seeking his second Tour-level victory of the season.
